I hope you are all enjoying the great weather that we are now experiencing. It is much better than dealing with all of that snow. I wanted to update you on some happenings in our District to help keep you informed and also spread the word about a few of the items.
Late in the fall our School Board and I worked with a facilitator from the Iowa Association of School Boards and they led us through an activity to help us identify some goals for the School Board and related priorities and indicators. This process proved to be very productive and we identified three major goal areas as a Board to prioritize in our work. They are Student Achievement & Growth, District Culture, and Resource Management. Each of these three goal areas have a draft list of priorities and indicators that we will use to assess our progress towards the goal areas and additionally identify actions that best help us to achieve our desired results. To do this we will also gather input from various stakeholder groups that exist in our district such as our School Improvement Advisory Council (SIAC), District Leadership Team (DLT), Building Leadership Team (BLT), and Superintendent’s Input Group to name a few. The total make-up of these groups represents parents, community members, teachers, administrators, and School Board members that can provide input as we work to develop the needed priorities, indicators, and actions that will be part of the plans associated with our three goal areas. Hopefully by the end of the school year we will have a document to represent some of this input and collaboration.
It is hard to imagine thinking about the 2024-2025 school year already, but we have been having those discussions for some time now and it is that time of year in which we begin gathering information to assist in our planning. One of the first things to make you aware of is our Kindergarten Round-up that is scheduled for April 12, 2024. If you know of someone with a kindergartner interested in attending Treynor CSD, please have them fill out this form. Along with our kindergarten sign-up, it is also time to let us know if you or someone you know would be interested in taking advantage of our full-day Preschool program for students who will be 4 years old on or before September 15th. Based on the interest from families for this school year we are opening a second classroom for 2024-2025 and currently accepting applications from resident and non-resident families. Space is limited, so if you or someone you know is interested, please have them complete this form to be considered. Applications will be accepted through March 15, 2024.
In addition to determining student enrollments for our 2024-2025 school year, we are also working on filling some staff openings we currently have. Treynor CSD is rated as “the best school district to teach in Pottawattamie” by Niche for 2024, so take a look at our current vacancies and let people know of the opportunities that are available to become part of our Cardinal Family.
