Anonymous Reporting
Treynor CSD offers students, parents and staff the ability to anonymously report threats to self or others using three tools: StopIt Anonymous Reporting System (ARS), Safe and Sound Iowa or the SpeakUp app recently made available in Pottawattamie County, Iowa.
HELPme
HELPme is the leading technology company providing a comprehensive software platform that mitigates, deters and controls bullying, cyberbullying, harassment and other harmful or inappropriate conduct. The HELPme mobile app is a simple, fast and powerful tool which empowers individuals to protect themselves and stand up for others online, on social media, in the classroom or in the office.
Once the HELPme mobile app is downloaded to the student's phone, it provides them with several powerful features. The Report feature can be used to anonymously submit an incident report consisting of an image, video, and/or text to school contacts who can respond to the incident and get help to the student in need. The HELPme mobile app also allows for anonymous two-way communication between students and school administrators with HELPme Messenger.
No personal information is needed to use HELPme. The only way personally identifiable information will be accessible through HELPme is if a requester voluntarily includes it within the content of a request or message. Both our school and HELPme are committed to protecting the privacy of student data. You may review HELPme’s Privacy Policy for details.
We want to stress that this app is not a replacement for current reporting protocols (telling a staff member about any safety issues), but is another tool to anonymously report incidents. This reporting needs to be taken seriously and used appropriately. Any offenders will be blocked.
For more information, refer to the parent flyer or the student flyer.
Safe and Sound Iowa
Safe+Sound Iowa is available to K–12 schools statewide at no charge by the Governor’s School Safety Bureau. It was developed to help prevent violence, unlawful possession of weapons, self-harm and other forms of victimization and threatening behaviors. Similar programs have been successful in preventing tragedy and saving lives in schools across the country, including Colorado, Pennsylvania and Arizona.
HOW SAFE+SOUND IOWA WORKS
In past school attacks in the United States, 92% of those who noticed concerning behaviors before the events were schoolmates.* Students may not report warning signs due to feelings of anxiety or intimidation, fear of retaliation or not knowing who to talk to. Safe+Sound Iowa removes these barriers with easy, convenient and confidential ways to report safety concerns. Reports can be made securely and anonymously:
- Online at SafeandSoundIowa.gov
- Through the Safe+Sound Iowa mobile app, or
- By phone at 800-224-6018.
Trained dispatchers monitor reports 24/7 and immediately engage in two-way communication with those raising concerns. They then reach out to the appropriate local school safety contact, law enforcement or other community partners.
